Project Name:
Once a year clear your wardrobe 2008 (Step 2: Finally)
Objective: Distribute used clothing to people in Nongbua Lumpoo |
| 14 December, 2008 |
| |
| |
Finally, we have arrived! Nasee sub-district, Nongbua Lumpoo province. And it's colddddd....
After collecting used clothing from project "Once a year clear your wardrobe" for 2 months.
We transported a 10 wheel truck full of used clothing to Nongbua Lumpoo province. - the poorest province of all 76 provinces in Thailand.

| |
| |
We can't believe there are so many boxes of used clothing that we received from the people of Phuket and visiting foreigners.
We started the day with donations of blankets and children's clothes to the Child Development Center where children really need them for their afternoon naps, while local people are separating clothes into mens, womens, and children clothes.
We went to Nongbua Lumpoo elementary school and donated some sports equipment to the school. |

| These are elderly and disabled people that we gave blankets and clothes to. |
| |
| First, we visited this old man who has a daughter with down's syndrome, so he and his wife have to take care of her for the rest of their life (or her life). |
This little old lady is living alone. She has several children, but none of them supports her. |
| |
| Same with this old lady who can barely walk. |
This couple is living with a family in this old house. |
| |
| This girl is 11 years old. She is handicapped and also suffers from mental retardation. Her mother has to be with her all the time. |
This is their house. |
| |
| This tiny house has no door and this old lay lives here by herself. |
This lady is not old, not crippled. She just has to take care of three young children after her husband left her. The sacks behind them are unmilled rice, the only source of income for this family during the whole year. |
| |
| This lady is the only one who can work to support her mother, her son and her husband. |
This old lady is living in a house with only one wall. I can't imagine how she would feel at 2:00 am. |
| |
| This is a shy lady. She refused to take a photo with me alone. |
This grandma is living with her grandson. I wouldn't call it a house. It has no walls !!! |
| |
| |
Of course life is not fair. But we can make it better. This project cannot be successful without your kind support. On behalf of Bangkok Hospital Phuket, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the people of Phuket, companies, and foreigners for their generous support. We are just the middle men who are passing on your generosity to these underprivileged people.
Bangkok Hospital Phuket plan to do this again next year. Please don't forget to safe us your undesired clothes, shoes, toys, etc. |
