More than 100 of emergency personnel were involved in rescuing passengers from the wrecked plane, which ploughed out side of the runway. The aircraft caught fire after crashing and breaking up in a muddy area. More than twenty ambulances transported victims to 3 hospitals in Phuket Island for treatment.

Dr. Kongkiat Kespechara, director of the Bangkok Hospital Phuket has reported is now treating 30 injured passengers from One-Two-Go plane crash incident. Seven Thais and Twenty-three foreigners: Five are severely injured, three severely burnt and two with broken bones. There are 24 men, six women and 28 of them has to be hospitalized.

After treating more than 1,000 survivors of the Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004, our staff learned from the tsunami that logistics is the main problem. The plane crash at Phuket airport on 17 Sep 2007, we sent three ambulances and a van as soon as we heard about the incident. The next three ambulances went within 15 minutes. It helped that we had regular drills and exercises after the tsunami.
The hospital’s 70 doctors and 250 nurses carry mobile phones and were alerted within minutes of the disaster.
